Oxidized LDL

Oxidized-LDL:
The Harmful Fat That Clogs Arteries

any people believe cholesterol is the enemy of health, but in fact, cholesterol plays a vital role in the body. It is an essential component of cell membranes, and helps produce vitamin D, hormones, and bile acids. Over 80% of cholesterol is produced naturally by the body, with only about 20% coming from food.

Traditionally, cholesterol has been divided into “good” HDL and “bad” LDL — a misleading concept. In reality, LDL is produced by the liver and serves as a transporter, carrying nutrients to cells throughout the body.

The real concern is not LDL itself, but Oxidized LDL (OxLDL) — LDL that has been damaged by inflammation or free radicals. This degraded form becomes the true culprit behind artery blockages.

In the past, OxLDL testing required sending samples abroad, taking weeks for results.
Today, Alternate Laboratory brings this international-standard test in-house,
delivering results that are both accurate and fast — right here in Thailand.
