Salivary Cortisol 4 Times

Salivary Cortisol (4 Times)
Why test hormones in saliva? Isn’t a blood test enough?
Most hormones in the body are bound to proteins, which means they are inactive or only partially active. A blood test measures the total hormone level — both bound and free — but does not clearly show how much of the hormone is truly active.
Salivary hormone testing is different. It measures only the biologically active hormones and allows collection at specific times of day, matching the body’s natural hormone rhythm. This provides a more accurate and reliable reflection of true hormone levels compared to blood tests.
Traditionally, salivary hormone tests had to be sent abroad, making them costly and time-consuming.
The good news is that Alternate Laboratory is the first in Thailand to introduce this technology locally — offering results at 2–3 times lower cost and delivering them within just 1 week.
Blood hormone tests still play an important role, but they require careful calculation and physician expertise to interpret. Together, both methods provide valuable insights to guide accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
